Marsala: Pantone 18-1428 -- 2015 Color of the Year

Leatrice Eisman, executive director of The Pantone Color Institute, describes Marsala as an earthy wine. Last night, when I saw the announcement on the Wall Street Journal website I told Mr. Wren. He asked, "what is 'Marsala'?" I described it as a dusty burgundy. However you describe it, 18-1428 is Pantone's 2015 Color of the Year.

From the PANTONE website:
PANTONE 18-1438 Marsala
Interesting on its own and a wonderful contrast for other hues, PANTONE 18-1438 Marsala serves as the foundation to the Spring/Summer 2015 palette. Sensual and bold, delicious Marsala is a daringly inviting tone that nurtures; exuding confidence and stability while feeding the body, mind and soul. Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this robust shade incorporates the warmth and richness of a tastefully fulfilling meal, while its grounding red-brown roots point to a sophisticated, natural earthiness.

Patnone's Spring 2015 Fashion Color Report -- will you see these colors in your sewing room?

The full PANTONE Fashion Color Report, Spring 2015 is fun to explore. But even more fun was going through my own inspiration pictures and realizing how many of the colors I had already pinned on Pinterest. I've started collecting them on a board of their own:

You may note that the current colors for this blog are inspired by 2014's Color of the Year, Radiant Orchard. The blog was born in January 2014, I was stumped on a color scheme, and the Color of the Year seemed a good choice. I may just have to update the colors annually.

So? What do you think of Marsala? What about the rest of the 2015 Spring color palette? Will these colors find their way into your sewing room this coming year?
